Designers offer many different ways to "disguise" the double functionality of the living room, you just have to choose the one that suits you.
Curtain
The easiest way to separate the sleeping area is with a curtain. This is not ideal - after all, the area of the room is significantly reduced, but the bed exactly hidden from prying eyes.
Panels
Build a special niche for the bed with sliding partitions. During the day they move, and the hidden bed does not bother anyone, and at night the panels can be moved apart, increasing the volume of the “bedroom”.
Pull-out sofa bed
An interesting option for equipping a living room combined with a bedroom is replacing the bed with a sofa bed, which folds out into a full-fledged sleeping place. This allows you to hide the bed and at the same time have a comfortable seating position in the room.
The sofa bed is easy to match to any interior, as they come in different shapes and sizes, from standard rectangular to huge round ones.
Transformation
For small apartments, special transforming furniture is produced. It allows you to use the same item in different situations.
For example, a large dining table hides a secret bed - you just need to lay it out in a special way. A small children's couch can become a work table. These “transformers” save both money and space.
Podium
A secret bed can be arranged on the podium - this is the best option when one and the same room serves simultaneously as a living room, a bedroom, an office, a nursery, and even a gym.
With the help of the podium, the room can be divided into two zones, one of which can be a study, and the other - a living room. The bed mounted in the podium at night moves to its "workplace", and during the day it is impossible to detect its presence.
Cupboard
In the closet, you can arrange a hidden bed in such a way that no one will even guess that this room is a bedroom at night. The simplest option is an ordinary wardrobe, the doors of which hide the bed.
A more complex option is a transforming bed, which, in an upright position, forms a cabinet wall. It is easy to raise and lower such a bed using a special mechanism.
Ceiling
One of the most original ways to hide a bed in a common room is to drive it ... onto the ceiling! Of course, in houses with low ceilings, such a decision will be justified only in the children's room, because children are very fond of hiding in secluded corners, and such a "attic" will be very cozy for them.
Adults will also be comfortable if they equip a niche on the "second floor" with lighting for evening reading and a socket for chargers.
Another “ceiling” option is a suspension bed. To lower such a secret bed, it is enough to press the button of the special mechanism. An obvious disadvantage of ceiling structures is the inability to lie down and rest in the middle of the day, each time you first have to bring the bed into working position.
Lounge
Set up a lounge area in your home. To do this, build a low podium-bowl, in the recess of which you put a mattress. The main condition is that it should not protrude above the podium level. This is the hidden bed, which can serve as a resting place during the day and sleep at night.
Mattress
The simplest, but rather comfortable sleeping place is a Japanese mattress called “futon”. Due to the lack of space in Japanese houses, it is not customary to put large beds, sleeping places are ordinary mattresses, which are spread out in a suitable place at night, and in the daytime they are removed into the closet. Similar mattresses in all sizes can be purchased at the store.
