However, one problem appears - the choice of curtains for an arched window is not as simple as it seems at first glance. Many people generally prefer to do without curtains, leaving the window open. In cases where the view from the window pleases, such a decision can be considered justified.
But do not forget that the textile on the windows not only protects from too bright sun or prying neighbors' eyes, but also brings comfort to the house.
Arched curtains have their own characteristics, and they must be considered if you want your windows to look elegant and attractive. You can hang ordinary straight curtains on arched windows, the whole trick is only to properly fix the cornice.
The main ways of decorating curtains on arched windows
- Below arched bend.
Ordinary straight curtains can be hung on an arched window if you attach a curtain rod to the wall below the bend of the window arch. Now it is one of the fashionable and popular design options for non-standard windows. Among other things, by attaching the curtains in this way, you increase the amount of daylight in the room.
- Above arched bend.
The cornice can be fixed above the bend of the window arch - this method will visually raise the ceilings, but in the closed state the window will lose its originality. You can sew it from a whole piece of fabric, you can - from stripes of different colors from the size, directed along or across.
Arched windows look especially good if various accessories are used in the design: decorative rings, silk hinges, hooks.
- Along arched bend.
Arched curtains can be hung on the cornice, bent according to the window opening in its upper part. In such cases, you can add a lambrequin for decoration.
Mobile curtains
If the windows are large arch-shaped, it can be difficult to use conventional curtains. In such cases, mobile curtains are preferred, that is, curtains equipped with a special mechanism.
Types of mobile curtains:
- roll,
- English,
- Roman,
- Austrian.
Mechanisms:
- manual (mechanically controlled),
- automatic (driven by an electric drive).
Blinds-pleated
Pleated blinds are often chosen as curtains for an arched window. This is a special form of curtains.
They are made according to special patterns, which are removed directly from your window. They are mounted directly on the frame and consist of a fabric fastened between two profiles of light metal, usually aluminum.
Pleated blinds can be in two parts if there is a partition in the middle of the window. Such arched curtains completely cover the window, and at any time they can be folded in about the same way as a fan is folded if unnecessary, then they occupy no more than five centimeters of the window area.
Curtains look good together with conventional sliding or sliding curtains, as well as in combination with lambrequins.
Advice. Ordinary curtains are transformed if they are supplemented with pickups. Fastened with hooks made of decorative ribbons or cords, the curtains change shape and are better combined with arched windows.
