Uncomfortable bedding
An old pillow is a source of dust and therefore dust mites. If it is comfortable, reanimate it by dry cleaning. Usually the height of the pillow is about 12 cm. If the neck hurts after sleep, the product is too high, and if you put your hand under your head before going to bed, it is too low. A hard pillow is needed for those who sleep on their side, and a soft pillow for those who sleep on their stomach.
An improper mattress, an overly warm blanket, and uncomfortable bedding can also affect sleep quality.
TV and computer
Electronic devices are sources of blue light, which can suppress the secretion of melatonin. This hormone regulates the body's circadian rhythms, protects against stress, and at night restores the work inside the cells, rejuvenating them. Bright screens and glowing spots on electrical appliances can cause poor sleep.
If there is an office in the bedroom, the room should be zoned. The desk should be separated from the bed by a partition, shelving or curtains.
Clock
Like other light sources, an illuminated electronic watch can cause insomnia. The noisy mechanism of the analog clock is also not conducive to healthy sleep, since complete silence is often required for good rest. When choosing a watch for a bedroom, you should make sure that it does not interfere with relaxation and does not annoy with continuous chirping.
Excess clothing
Do not allow things to fill the entire closet - so they break out and occupy the backs of chairs and the surface of the bed. There must be room for air circulation in the cabinet. Give the clothes you don't wear to those in need. On the vacated shelves, you can put items that are usually stored on a dressing table or chest of drawers and clutter up the room.
Flowering plants
It is believed that flowers in the sleeping room harm a person by taking away positive energy or emitting carbon dioxide. Fortunately, numerous studies have confirmed the opposite - indoor plants purify the air from harmful outdoor pollution, benzene and formaldehyde. But fragrant flowers (in pots or cut) are best avoided - they can not only disrupt sleep, but also cause headaches, as well as a feeling of nausea upon waking.
Abundance of textiles and books
Arranging a library in the bedroom is not the best solution. Books, carpets on the floors and walls, and multi-layer curtains collect large amounts of dust, fungi and microorganisms that can cause allergies or shortness of breath. Caring for them requires a lot of time and effort, so for books we recommend purchasing cabinets with doors, for example, glass. It is better to replace multilayer curtains with laconic blackout curtains.
Things that don't make you happy
While in the bedroom, you need to carefully look around to notice an object that does not fit into the setting or generates negative associations. This could be:
- An exercise machine that you do not use.
- An old bulky wardrobe, blocking the light and depriving the interior of the air.
- An ugly vase given to you out of ignorance.
- Paintings and photographs that cause sadness or irritation.
- A multi-tiered chandelier above the bed that creates an unconscious feeling of anxiety.
The interior must work for the person, and not vice versa: the bedroom must be like a spa, where you can relax and get rid of stress. You yourself can take care of your body, and it will thank you with increased stress resistance, vigor and attractive appearance.
