6 ways to visually increase the height of the ceiling

We use a tone-on-tone finish

By making the ceiling white and painting the walls the same color, we will visually blur the boundaries between them. The room will be filled with light, the oppressive feeling will disappear. It is advisable not to use a ceiling plinth that separates the two planes from each other. At the same time, it is advisable to make the floor dark: the tree will take attention to itself, as if dissolving the surface under the feet.

Taking advantage of gloss

If the repair is in full swing, it's time to replace the regular ceiling with a stretch ceiling with a glossy or semi-glossy surface. It will slightly lower the floor level, but the reflective surface will create a spacious effect and increase the amount of light.

If stretch canvases for some reason do not suit you, you can use paint with a semi-gloss effect.

When updating a room with a low ceiling, it is worth purchasing low furniture. Laconic armchairs, a sofa and a chest of drawers will give a feeling of spaciousness, as if "pressed against" the floor. This technique will help correct the proportions of the entire room.

We decorate the windows competently

If you remove everything unnecessary from the window sill and around it (including tulle and heavy curtains), the space will be filled with air, and the gaze will slide, smoothly moving to the landscape outside the window. This technique distracts attention from the low ceiling, since nothing else emphasizes it.

If you cannot do without curtains, we recommend hanging the cornice to the maximum height, and purchase curtains up to the floor.
