Twine and thread
To improve the appearance of a nondescript commercial pot and add personality to it, you can decorate it with threads. To do this, coat the pot with PVA glue and begin to wrap it with thick threads. Instead of threads, you can take a rope or even ordinary laces.
Pots decorated with jute yarn also look very beautiful. Pigtails are pre-weaved from jute, and then they are pasted over a pots or pot.
If you give preference to bright colors, then the flowerpots will turn out to be juicy and contrasting, and if you opt for calmer neutral colors, then such a decor will fit into any interior and will not stand out.
Marmorizing
If you want to make your pots colorful and original, but don't know how to draw at all, it doesn't matter. Try marmorizing. This amazing technique is extremely popular, and most importantly, there is nothing complicated about it.
All you need - special paints for marmorizing. More a budget option - use acrylic or even regular nail polish instead. The result will be just as amazing.
- Before proceeding with the decor, it is advisable to paint the pot white using automotive spray paint.
- After it dries, you can start creating.
- To do this, pour water into a suitable container and add a few drops of paint. The more colors you choose, the more interesting your drawing will be.
- Then we gently begin to drive over the surface with a toothpick, mixing the boundaries of the paints.
- Now we carefully lower our pot there and slowly turn it so that the paint is evenly distributed.
- After all the manipulations done, we dry our creation by placing it on foil.
The most interesting thing about this technology is that the pattern is never repeated, which means that your products will turn out to be truly exclusive.
Degrade
This method is a bit similar to the previous one, as it also uses paint and water. However, herself the application technique is slightly different, which allows you to get a completely different result. Many people paint eggs in this way for Easter.
When stained in the "degrade" or "ombre" style, there is a smooth transition from a lighter to a darker shade, which creates a very interesting effect.
- For everything to work out as it should, you must first use very little dye. It is added to water, mixed thoroughly, achieving uniformity of the coloring composition, and the pot is lowered there.
- After that, a little more paint is added to the water and the pot is no longer completely immersed, but only to the required level.
- Such manipulations are carried out until the result is satisfactory for you, and colored stripes of different intensities appear on the pot.
Drift woods and wood
Eco style is still at the peak of popularity, and many designers have long been using natural materials in their work. Who is stopping us from doing the same?
If you want to add some bright and distinctive accents to your home, try decorating your planters with wood. Twigs, sticks, or even bark collected in the nearest forest are suitable as decor. All materials are glued to the pot with a glue gun, and then decorated with a rope.
If you live by the sea, drift wood can also be used, the so-called drift woods - wooden twigs, rolled by the sea, which are thrown ashore after a storm.
Sackcloth
Sackcloth has long and firmly held its position as one of the best materials for decoration. Flowers in burlap pots look more elegant and sophisticated.
To make such a decor, you need to apply PVA glue to the back of the burlap and glue it to the pot. You can also sew a sackcloth bag, put it on a planter, and tie it with twine so that it does not fall off.
On top of the burlap, you can decorate with lace or glue buttons.
Blackboard paint and crayons
Another new trend among plant lovers is to paint regular terracotta flower pots with slate paint. On such wonderful pots you can write with chalk, like on a real school board.
You can leave funny and important messages or write the name of a plant, for example. This decor can be especially useful when transplanting flowers, since you can always erase the old name and replace it with a new one.
There is nothing difficult in making such a pot. The most important thing is to wash and degrease the surface so that the paint lies evenly. Then the dried and clean pot is covered with slate paint in several layers.
If you plan to keep the pots on the terrace, then instead of chalk it is better to take a special marker for the board, then no rain will be able to wash your inscription off.
Knitted things
Surely everyone met clothes for animals at the pet store. Why not make such "clothes" for a flower pot? Firstly, it will look very original, and secondly, it will help the flower not freeze in winter on a cold windowsill.
Moreover, in order to make such an outfit, you don't even need to know how to knit. It is enough to rummage in your linen closet and find old knitted things, for example a hat or a scarf-snood, and redo it a little.
And if you know how to handle knitting needles or a crochet, then your imagination has a place to roam.
Clothespins
If you have wooden clothespins lying around at home, then they can also be used to build a small and beautiful pot for succulents. To do this, you need to take a ready-made plastic container for seedlings and glue clothespins to it.
Also, a cut plastic bottle or other similar container is taken as a basis. The resulting product can be additionally decorated by gluing sea pebbles, shells, buttons or beads.
Geometry
This method is suitable for those who want to update their old pots of the same type, but do not want to paint or sew anything. In this case, ordinary electrical tape will come to your aid.
Glue the duct tape to the pot, forming different geometric shapes, and then paint the product in the desired color. After the pot is dry, remove the tape. The stylish and laconic design of your new pots will delight you.
Steampunk
If you have accumulated a lot of unnecessary little things, such as a variety of nuts, cogs, keys, buttons and other nonsense, which it is a pity to throw out and there is no way to find a use, then the next idea will appeal to you.
Try to decorate your indoor flowers in steampunk style... All you need is a glue gun and gold paint. Glue all this "wealth" with glue to the pot and paint with automotive gold paint from a spray can. Done!
As you can see, there are a lot of ideas for decorating flower pots and each of them allows you to create an exclusive decor item that will further decorate your home.
