Types of curtains
Eyelets are not suitable for all types of curtains. Visually, they look practical, aesthetically pleasing and attractive. But in order to choose the appropriate option, consider the features for each type.
Curtains on eyelets
Blackout blackout curtains are the main touch in window decoration. Due to the eyelets, a natural gathering is formed on the canvas, which gives a special look when using silk and satin fabrics. In the interior, they are most often combined with tulle. Correctly selected curtains increase the space and height of the ceiling, while straight vertical lines add authentic decorative effect.

What kind of cornice is needed?
There is a large assortment of curtain rods for grommet curtains - these are various designs, colors, materials and the presence of decorative elements. Such a variety of choices, on the one hand, makes life easier, and on the other, it makes you think and choose an individual option that will take into account all the features of the interior.
- Take into account the diameter of the cornice and the hole so that the curtain moves easily and freely.
- Do not fasten the cornice too high, you should leave a distance between the structure and the ceiling so that the curtain does not deform.
- If desired, the color of the cornice can be combined with the shade of the eyelets.
- When choosing a style, it is important to take into account the shape and decorative component of the cornice. So for modern styles, such as minimalism or high-tech, simple models without any additions are suitable. And for classic or ethnic trends, it is worth considering the characteristic features of the styles and adding accents to complete the stylish image of the room.
Features of the choice of eyelets
The appearance of eyelets depends on many factors - material, shape, size, color and decorative coating. Such a variety makes it possible to use them in almost all interior styles.
For curtains in calm colors, fittings with decorative ornaments are preferable. A good option would be gold plating or silver. Rhinestones or imitation leather are often used to add luxury to the interior. For curtains in bright colors, it is better to choose simpler and more restrained colors.
When choosing a material for rings, you should pay attention not only to the appearance, but also to the technical characteristics. There are not many types of material, but the right choice will allow you to keep the curtains during the next wash and you will enjoy beauty for a long time.
Metal eyelets are the most practical and will last a long time while maintaining their previous appearance. In addition, they successfully harmonize with modern styles - minimalism, loft or hi-tech. Rings made of brass and steel, when washed together with a curtain, can quickly lose their original appearance, so it is advisable to remove them before this procedure. Stainless steel rings are resistant to corrosion, but are quite expensive.
Plastic or plastic is the most common option for eyelets. They are distinguished by an affordable price and a large selection of colors, which allows you to choose rings for the style of the interior. When moving, the curtains do not create noise, do not scratch the cornice, and are easily washed together. Suitable for thinner fabrics.
Wooden eyelets are less durable than plastic ones and can deform during washing and drying. Such an environmentally friendly material as wood looks very impressive and is often used when decorating an interior in Provence or country style.
What do curtains look like in the interior?
An interesting image of the interior is created not only by decorating walls, furniture or carpet, but also by properly selected curtains. And the eyelets will become the final accent in the design of the window opening.
Lounge curtains
Long curtains will brighten the living room and create a stunning visual effect with graceful and neat folds. Bright and rich colors of curtains are suitable for a living room in a modern style. It is better to match the eyelets to the color of the decor elements in order to maintain the harmony of color.

The best option for a kitchen window. They can be short or long, plain, with a pattern or floral print. In the kitchen, the practicality and convenience of eyelets is felt most of all. For small areas, short curtains to the windowsill are suitable, and for spacious kitchens or for a kitchen-living room, it is better to use long curtains to the floor.
To decorate a window with a balcony door, linen or acrylic curtains are suitable, which are not susceptible to fading and dirt.
Design of curtains on eyelets for the bedroom
In the interior of the bedroom, such curtains will create coziness and emphasize the stylish design of the room. Plus, vertical folds visually increase the height of the room, so this is a great solution for a small bedroom. It is better to choose eyelets to match the decorative elements of the bedroom and in a calm color scheme. Combined models look good.
Curtains on eyelets for the nursery
For the design of a window in a nursery, this mounting option will be ideal - the eyelets move very easily along the cornice, which will allow you to easily push and pull the curtains. You need to choose natural materials, high quality and durable.
Short models will be a salvation for the baby's room, who is just starting to take the first steps. In addition to its practical value, such a solution will visually increase the space, thereby freeing up free space.
Which curtain fabric should I choose?

Step-by-step instruction
-
Measurements and calculation of fabric:
- We measure the length of the cornice, multiply the resulting value by a factor (1.5 for tulles, 2-2.5 for curtains).
- We calculate the length of the folds and allowances:
bottom edge - 8-10 cm,
top edge - with a margin of about 25 cm,
side edges - 3-4 cm in total.
-
We calculate the distance:
soft waves, we fasten the eyelets every 15 cm, if deep and embossed waves are needed, we take a step of 22 cm. Intermediate options are allowed, everything is up to your imagination. -
Material preparation... Before fastening the eyelets to the curtains, be sure to sew an eyelet tape to the fabric or tuck the fabric itself to seal the attachment point.
- We turn the upper part of the canvas to the width of the eyelet tape, and steam the place of the fold with an iron.
- Cut off the sides with a margin (equal to approximately the width of the gate).
- Next, we straighten the fabric, and place the tape along the upper fold and fasten it with an iron.
-
Fabric marking:
- Based on the calculations above, mark the points on the tape;
- We attach tailor's pins to each point;
- Mark the outline of the hole on the tape along the inner circle of the eyelets.
-
Fastening eyelets:
- Cut holes along the marked contours with a margin of 2 mm;
- We snap the rings on both sides or push through with a press.

Design ideas
There are many interior styles in modern design and it is better to think over all the details for a harmonious look. Therefore, it is the eyelets that designers often use for the finishing touch in interior design.
Eyelet curtains are often used in combination with lambrequins. Such a decorative element complements the window decoration. The shape of the lambrequin can be straight or with a curly cut. In the interior, such a type of decoration as a lambrequin on the eyelets will not leave anyone indifferent.
Another popular addition for curtains is tie-backs - the canvases are draped into beautiful folds and fixed on both sides. They help to be creative in interior design, and even the simplest curtains will become stylish and unique.
