clothing
We disassemble the wardrobe, removing hopelessly spoiled T-shirts and sweaters from the shelves with stubborn stains, as well as holes that cannot be sewn up. We get rid of clothes that are not in size - if they look decent, we donate them to charity. The same applies to festive outfits that you don't want to wear again for other celebrations. And how much space does a magnificent wedding dress take! We try to sell beautiful clothes or give them away. We leave wardrobe items if we plan to give them a new life by making a rug, patchwork bedspread, pillow or dresses for dolls.
Lingerie
We throw away the stretched bras and nightgowns that have ceased to fulfill their functions and now look unattractive. We sew stockings or tights that can be worn under trousers, but do not leave uncomfortable or hopelessly torn. The same applies to socks: lost one and the chances of finding him a pair tend to zero? Do not leave "alone" until better times.
Handbags
What is the likelihood that you will want to go out with an outdated, worn out bag or wallet? And how much space is taken up by travel bags that have lost their appearance? Either we put them in order, or we throw them away.
Footwear
Trampled boots, already irrelevant shoes, burst boots ... We divide shoes into three different groups:
- For a new, but unnecessary, we are looking for another owner;
- We restore our beloved, but lost polish couple in special workshops, which sometimes work wonders with old copies;
- Shoes that cannot be restored are sent to the trash heap.
Another option is for a summer residence, however, and only the most necessary should be left for it.
Cosmetics
Creams that we don't use, dried mascara, shadows and lipstick lying useless - all this just takes up space in a cosmetic bag or on a dresser. Perfume that you don't like can be offered to your friends: what if this particular fragrance is suitable for one of them? Do not store dried nail polish either. And if the cosmetics have expired, we get rid of them without a doubt.
Products
Expired products and preparations threaten indigestion at best, and poisoning at worst. Is it worth risking your health? Also in the kitchen, you should disassemble the seasonings that have expired, check the stale cereals and discard that hardened cookie at the bottom of the pack.
Dishes
Chipped plates and mugs are not just unaesthetic, but really dangerous. Bacteria and heavy metal salts in cracks are difficult to neutralize and more dangerous than those that cover intact dishes. Chipped plates and cups can be decorated, but you cannot eat or drink from them, so we do not recommend saving up "illiquid" in the kitchen, where too many items are already stored.
Kitchenware
Trash can also include broken cutlery, moldy cutting boards, and utensils with damaged Teflon coating. We do not recommend storing old plastic containers either: the smallest scratches on them contribute to the growth of bacteria.
Empty jars and jars
Before leaving all sorts of jars, we ask ourselves the question: will this entire collection be useful in the future? If not, then the containers are disposed of or given to those who are engaged in winter procurement.
Trinkets
Cheap, tasteless figurines, magnets brought by friends from travels, vases that don't fit into the decor - do they really please and decorate the interior? Are they time-consuming during cleaning and do they create visual noise?
Towels and bed linen
Well-worn towels, torn or faded duvet covers and sheets - if using them, you catch yourself on unpleasant sensations, it's time to replace them. Maybe you should get an unpacked set from the mezzanine, which is kept "for the future" or "as a gift" and please yourself with it, and not someone else?
Book editions
We used to think that books should be protected. But what to do with textbooks and notebooks that lie dead on the shelves and were opened a decade ago? It is unlikely that they will ever be needed. Books and textbooks can be donated to a library, anti-cafe, second-hand bookstore, attached by an ad, or participate in bookcrossing.
Discount cards
If the store cards do not fit in either a wallet or a business card holder, you should select only the most necessary ones from among them. Another great way to get rid of the clutter is to install the e-wallet app. With its help, the consumption of plastic will be slightly reduced.
Old papers
Sometimes newspapers and old documents can really come in handy, but do you need to fill the shelves with useless waste paper? These include promotional brochures, free promotional items, out-of-date calendars and diaries, and collections of magazines that are not re-read. If it is difficult to part with a pile of children's drawings, you can select only those that you really like.
Expired medicines
It is worth getting into the habit of disassembling a home first-aid kit at least once a year - to replenish it with the most necessary medications and throw away expired medications.
Old electronics
Do you not raise your hand to get rid of devices that do not even turn on? If the house does not have a specially designed showcase for demonstrating retro technology, you should not store it in the corners. The same applies to unused wires, discs with films and games, household appliances that cannot be repaired and take up useful space.
Kids toys
Psychologists say that an excessive amount of toys reduces the quality of the game and does not contribute to the development of children's imagination. Before buying a new toy, you should think carefully whether the child needs it so much - then you will not have to look for a place for it, and subsequently other owners. Serviceable, but already unnecessary toys can be donated to charity (Volunteers to Help Orphans, Mercy, Russian Birch), exchanged, given to relatives or friends, or donated via Internet services.
Furniture
During the renovation or renovation of the interior, it is easy to find furniture that is no longer relevant, does not fit into the interior, or is simply bored. If the furniture cannot be repainted and repaired, it is worth freeing the apartment from the annoying object: take it to the country house, sell it, give it away for pickup or use the services of a recycling company.
Old boxes
If the warranty period of the used item has expired, it is not necessary to store the box. It can be useful only when selling electronics, as well as moving, if it has suitable dimensions. A box can be decorated and used as a storage space, but cardboard that is useless is best sent to a landfill.
Remains of materials after repair
Chipped tiles, dry mixes, trimmings, excess paint - all this is stored "just in case", takes up a lot of space and is not removed from the pantry for years. We sort the leftovers, honestly answering the question: "Will I need this in the near future?" If not, then we are looking for a new place for building materials or owners who have repairs in full swing.
Fighting trash is a whole philosophy, which you can learn about from thematic books. By ridding the house of old things, we open up to new things, make living space easier, help other people and even change our thinking for the better!
