Shadow seams
A shadow seam is an interior detail that is most often used in drywall constructions. Visually, it looks original and unusual.... Indeed, from the side it seems as if the wall is floating in the air and is not attached to the floor in any way.
This effect is achieved due to the fact that this type of hidden skirting board has the shape of the letter "L", and the floor covering goes under the skirting board by at least 3-6 millimeters.
Backlight
Every person in at least one movie or program on TV has seen the LED backlight on sex or ceiling... It goes well with any design and looks great.
The only disadvantage is that the monthly payment for electricity will increase (the backlight does not consume a lot of energy, so the increase in the amount will be insignificant). In addition you can install an LED strip that will react to movements in the room and turn on at that moment.
You can install the backlight inside the shadow joint or build it into special skirting boards. Alternatively, you can mount a special neon cord along the transition from the floor to the wall. And if you want to install a backlight that will turn on when driving, then you also need to connect a motion sensor.
Rope
A cord or in another way a rope is a budget analogue of a plinth. The thick designer rope looks very original and unusual. In stores, you can now buy any kind of edging cord, which differ in design, thickness, material of manufacture, and so on.
At the same time, in order to attach the rope to its rightful place, it is not required to call specialists. This interior element is attached with glue. The only task is to stick the rope straight.
Cork damper
Most often it is used to visually remove the joints between parquet and ceramic tiles, however, it is also perfect for decorating the transition of the floor to the wall. Unfortunately, only a small number of shades are sold in stores. But thanks to the special structure of the damper, it can be independently painted in any desired color.
The advantages include the original appearance, budget and ease of installation. But the cork expansion joint has one serious drawback. Due to the porous structure, under the influence of high air humidity, the material quickly collapses and becomes unusable. Therefore, if the house is constantly humid, then it is better to opt for another material.
Decorative panels
If the other analogs to the plinth are small in size and height, then decorative panels are mounted on a part of the wall. Therefore, in this case, it is important to carefully consider the combination of design, texture, color, and so on. Fortunately, the stores now sell decorative panels for every taste and color.
You can even find premium decorative panels with a volumetric pattern, however, the price for them is several times higher. It is easy to mount the panels, just use special glue or screws.
Door platbands
Door platbands can be used not only for doors, but also instead of a plinth on the floor. It turns out very original and beautiful. And some models of platbands can still be purchased and cheaper than skirting boards.
Of the advantages, one can single out the fact that when using this decor element, a smooth transition near the doors is preserved, besides, the door casing does not protrude as much as the plinth.
Window glazing beads
This decorative element is most often used for glass fixing. But window glazing beads can also be used instead of plinths on the floor. They are made from different materials: natural wood, MDF or PVC. Thereby, everyone can pick up glazing beads to fit your needs and capabilities.
Usually, this decorative element is fixed on liquid nails, but you can also use ordinary mounting glue. Thanks to this, the glazing beads fit snugly against the wall and floor. This means that they will be able to serve for several years before they require replacement.
Ceramic border
Initially, this technology was used in places adjoining the bath to the wallto seal the cracks. But then someone suggested using a ceramic curb instead of a baseboard on the floor. As a result, this technology quickly spread throughout Russia and Europe.
Since the ceramic border has an attractive appearance and a number of useful properties: long service life, resistance to almost all external factors and high tightness.
If you are already tired of the classic version of framing the transition of the floor to the wall, then you can use one of the unusual analogs to the skirting board. So you get a more original and attractive interior, thus spending a little more money.
