At what height should the hood be installed above the stove?

The main question is - at what height should the hood be installed to ensure its maximum efficiency? After all, if it pulls "half-heartedly", fatty deposits will still accumulate on furnishings, decor, curtains and other textile elements. It also settles on ceilings and walls, and on floors.

The recommendations for installation height are given by the manufacturer and are reflected in the instructions, so it is very important to read them before proceeding with the installation. Usually, a certain range of values ​​is indicated, which is suitable for a particular model. Only if these values ​​are observed will the hood really cope with air purification.

Unfortunately, it is far from always possible to get instructions - these useful brochures are often lost or torn when packing, and it is impossible to read what is needed. Therefore, it is useful to know at what height experts recommend installing the hood. This height depends primarily on which stove is installed in your kitchen.

Direct exhaust installation height above the cooker

• For gas stoves, the height of the hood above the work surface should be in the range from 75 to 85 cm.
• For electric or induction hobs, the installation height can be lower - from 65 to 75 cm.

Installation height of the inclined hood above the stove

In recent years, inclined hoods have become widespread. They are more aesthetic and fit better with modern interior styles. For them, the installation height is slightly less:

• for gas stoves - 55-65 cm,
• for electric and induction cookers - 35-45 cm.

Why is it important to stick to installation heights?

It is very important to install the hood at the height recommended by the manufacturer - only in this case it will work for a long time and effectively purify the air from burning and fat droplets formed during cooking.

Installing at a lower height can cause a fire, interfere with food preparation and will not look aesthetically pleasing. Too high an altitude will not allow trapping all the contaminants entering the air, and the efficiency of the hood will decrease.

Installing an exhaust outlet

The location of the socket, where it will be connected, depends on the height of the hood installation above the stove. Typically, the outlet is mounted directly above the hood. A good option is to fix the outlet about 10-30 cm above the wall cabinet line. Do not forget to move the hole for the outlet 20 cm away from the hood's symmetry axis, since the exhaust duct runs in the center.
