Use crates and containers
Baskets, boxes, special containers will do - everything that will help sort the products and bring them into the system. It is good if the containers are transparent.
If not, use labeling (dairy products, snacks, etc.) or different colors. Drawers with handles make it easier to access food, trays with a low front wall or special inclined containers are convenient for fruits and vegetables.
Shift food
Purchase a set of containers with different sizes of lids. Store in them products from the opened original packaging, unused semi-finished products and leftovers of ready-made food.
A pot of soup or a skillet will take up unnecessarily large amounts of space in the refrigerator. It is much more convenient to take out and reheat the required portion in a small container.
The most practical containers - rectangular, they use every centimeter of space, and are easy to stack on top of each other.
Cover the shelves
It is inconvenient to reach and wash bulky shelves. It is much easier to rinse out a silicone mat or special tissue. Some housewives advise wrapping the refrigerator shelves with cling film, which, in case of contamination, can be removed in one motion and simply thrown away.
Store greens correctly
Bulky greens in bags take up a lot of shelf space and create a mess. Chop an onion or salad finely and store in a sealed glass jar.
Another option - place the bundle vertically in a container with water. Greens stay fresh longer and take up a very small area.
Use the space under the shelves
There is a place under the shelves that is usually empty. Purchase special hanging containers. If the shelf is mesh, it is easy to hang zip bags to it using stationery clips.
Take a look a selection of ideas for storage in the kitchen from IKEA.
Organize storage of cans and bottles
Bottled and canned drinks can tip over or roll over the shelves when lying down. Special trays and restraints, which are put on the neck of the bottle, hold them in place and allow them to be stored in several tiers.
Such devices can be bought or made by yourself from office clamps.
Combine sauces and condiments
Create a separate tray for sauces and condiments. As a rule, these products are stored for a long time in motley jars and bags, do not look aesthetically pleasing and are "scattered" throughout the refrigerator.
By collecting them in one place, you will make it easier to find and you will always notice on time that you have run out of ketchup or mustard.
Use vertical freezer storage
The advantages of vertical storage in crates are well known - all inventory is visible at once and any product is available. This principle works great in the freezer too. If possible freeze food in flat bags in portions and store vertically in the drawer.
Office drives for papers are perfect as delimiters. If you additionally mark the packages, it will be even easier to navigate the inventory.
Divide the shelves on the doors
Assign a different purpose to each shelf on the refrigerator door. To make it easier for the household to remember, sign or use pictures.
Combine small items (for example, bottles or boxes with medicines) in small containers (small food containers or any cardboard packaging will do) so that they will not crumble on the shelves when the door moves.
Get a separate box "Eat urgently"
For products that are nearing the end of their expiration date, use a special box or container. Look there every time you are going to cook.
Now this food will not be forgotten, will not get lost on the shelves, which means it will not go bad.
It is not necessary to use all the methods at once, choose what is right for you, or get creative. A properly organized refrigerator is easy to keep in order, you will be surprised how much it fits in, and your stocks will always be under control.
