How to make a coffee table from pallets with your own hands?

Materials and tools

• pallet (can be found at a construction site or warehouse);
• legs (you can buy in an online store or a hardware store);
• timber (sold in hardware stores);
• brushes;
• varnish;

• a hammer;
• saw.

How to do it yourself?

Pallets are different. In some, the planks are almost full, in others they are spaced a considerable distance from each other. Here you have to choose for yourself what you will use the table for and which look you like best.

Step 1: preparation

To make a coffee table with your own hands, first decide on the size. Cut off the excess part of the pallet with a saw, and use the strips from it if you want them to fit close to each other in your table.

Secure the planks to the open side of your new table with nails and a hammer.

Attention! When working with the hammer, be careful not to break the planks. As a rule, the wood of the pallets is dry and can crack easily.

Step 2: strengthening the table

The bottom of your pallet table needs to be reinforced. This is done with the help of additional planks, or even better - wooden blocks.

They are nailed on both sides of the pallet, so that there is space for attaching the legs.

Step 3: mounting the legs

To do this, first fix the corners for the legs (using a drill), then attach the legs themselves to the holes in the corners.

Step 4: cosmetic work

It remains only to apply varnish to make a coffee table with your own hands. First, sand the entire surface of the table, and then apply varnish with a brush. Let it dry for the proper time.

If desired, the varnish can be applied in two layers.
