Hinge repair will not take long

The hinges of inexpensive cabinets and nightstands do not withstand the load and fail within a few months after purchase. Violation of the closing angle, frequent disassembly and hasty assembly of furniture (for example, when moving) significantly reduce their service life.

The choice of the repair method, first of all, depends on the depth and size of the damage to the attachment point.

The loop is ripped out of the seat, but it is not badly damaged

The situation when the self-tapping screws on which the door hinge was held first fell out of the nests - the most common and easiest to fix.

• If the thickness of the door allows, it will be enough to choose larger fasteners and screw the hinge with them to the old place.
• If the thickness of the furniture is not suitable for this method, you need to use wooden chopiks. They are pre-coated with PVA glue and driven tightly into the slots of the fallen screws.

After complete drying, the loop is attached to fasteners of the same size as before, but they are screwed not into the surface of the furniture, but into chopiks.

The hinge seat is badly damaged or completely destroyed

If the attachment point is badly broken, you can go in three ways:

• Move the loop slightly higher or lower places of its initial attachment. To do this, you will need to make holes on the surface of the furniture using a special drill and screw the fallen off door with self-tapping screws.
• Fill the place fasteners and the loop itself with epoxy glue. If you carefully use the furniture after such a repair, you can extend its service life by several years.
• If the damage to the seat is so severe that the first two methods cannot be used, it will be necessary drill out completely, then glue a wooden patch on this place and attach a loop to it.
