Interior design features
When thinking about integrating bamboo into the interior of an apartment, the first thing that comes to mind eco-style, African or Colonial. Natural materials are really relevant in all of the above areas: bamboo trunks in the living room, exotic accessories in the bedroom will always look appropriate.
Another suitable ethnic style is oriental. Into Chinese or Japanese designs furniture will fit especially well: low tables, shelves, screens, headboards.
If desired, bamboo is easy to fit into a modern style, using in the form wicker curtains, unusual accessories, floor decoration. The classic style is difficult to make friends with an outstanding plant, but in the form of parquet it is guaranteed to be appropriate.
Benefits bamboo in the interior:
- environmental friendliness;
- strength;
- resistance to moisture (not subject to decay);
- tolerance to temperature changes;
- bactericidal properties.
Decoration Materials
Use bamboo on walls, floors, ceilings. For the latter, special panels are produced that are simply glued to a vertical surface.
As a floor covering from the trunks, a parquet board is made: the floor from it is strong, durable, has high resistance to wear, water and moisture, temperature extremes. The bamboo floor is laid even in rooms with high traffic - corridors, halls, living rooms.
The most bamboo wall materials on the market are:
- Bamboo wallpaper... The thinnest strips are cut from the stem and glued to the base. They weigh more than usual, are more difficult to stick - for example, it is quite difficult to cut the canvases across the wood with an ordinary knife, craftsmen often use a jigsaw for this.
- Bamboo canvases... Unlike wallpaper, they have less overall dimensions, they consist of lamellas of various widths - 5, 8, 11, 17 mm. They are glued to walls, ceilings, used for finishing furniture.
- Bamboo panels... For manufacturing, they take a pressed plank, the finished product is used in interior, exterior decoration.
Bamboo furniture
Bamboo in the interior is a completely independent unit, especially if you choose furniture from this natural material. Tables, armchairs, sofas, beds, shelves are made by weaving sticks together using dense jute.
Due to its natural origin, the grass goes well with wood, leather details, stone trim, glass, natural fabrics.
When decorating a space in an ecological or tropical style, bamboo furniture can be given the palm by choosing a combination of several parts at once or a whole set. If the task is to stylishly dilute the modern environment, one thing is enough: coffee table in the living room, shelves in the nursery.
Bamboo trunks for zoning
The easy way to do partition, which will always look relevant, original - to build it from bamboo trunks.
Depending on the chosen style and the task at hand, the trunks are tightly attached to each other, or set in a chaotic manner. In order not to build a static barrier, purchase a portable screen: come in different sizes, shades, designs.
Decorative elements
For those who are afraid to overdo it with furniture or decoration, but want to use bamboo in the house, there is a huge selection of small accessories:
- vases;
- candlesticks;
- frames for pictures or photos;
- curtains, blinds;
- mats;
- boxes, baskets;
- fountains;
- flower pots;
- coasters;
- crockery accessories.
A special place in bamboo decor are occupied by curtains: firstly, they will be conspicuous when entering the room. Secondly, they have the unique ability to create a warm, cozy atmosphere in any room.
Due to the water resistance of bamboo slats, decorations from them are often used in bathrooms: as framing mirrors, shelves in the shower room, towel-holder ladders.
Bamboo as a plant
Everyone knows about the high growth rate of bamboo: in the wild, it increases by 20-50 cm per day (depending on the variety). Since keeping representatives of the Bambusoideae family in an apartment is not the best option, there are 2 alternatives:
- Artificial flower in a pots... It looks quite natural, is suitable for keeping in any conditions, does not require maintenance and watering. It is enough to refresh the composition under the shower once a month and put it in place.
- Living plant Dracaena sanderiana or Dracaena Sandera... Sticks, leaves really resemble oriental grass, so the flower received the second name "indoor bamboo". It is possible to grow in the ground, but an ordinary container with water turns out to be more aesthetically pleasing and more practical. So that the stem does not look lonely, dracaena is combined in compositions of 3 units, and some craftsmen even intertwine the stems with each other.
Imitation bamboo
Bamboo stems are not always used in the interior: in some cases, it is enough to imitate texture or appearance. An easy way - drawing or sticker... Decorate walls, furniture, textiles. Look impressive wallpaper depicting a bamboo grove.
In common areas (kitchen, living room), adult bedrooms, use realistic images. In children's rooms, a cartoon effect is permissible: a drawn panda can sit on the stalks.
Second way of imitation - volumetric. A parody of bamboo is often used to disguise pipes - they are simply painted to match the trunk of a plant.
Examples in the interior of rooms
Everyone decides on their own how to use bamboo details in design, but we have compiled a list of recommendations for each room:
- Living room... Wallpaper, furniture, decor. Between decoration and furniture, they choose one thing, otherwise one will be lost against the background of the other.
- Bedroom... A popular option is the headboard. You can also lay rugs, bamboo lamps on the pedestals.
- Children... An ideal option would be eco-friendly wallpaper for the walls - safe for children, helping to maintain the correct microclimate.
- Kitchen... Bamboo can be flooring, lamps, dishes, decorative items.
In the CIS countries, bamboo is still perceived as something exotic, but thanks to its strength and versatility, it has already won the hearts of many people and continues to gain popularity.
