Types of chairs
The types of seats depend primarily on the criteria being compared.
Transformation
A standard armchair in the interior does not change shape. Convertible chairs easily transform into comfortable sun loungers or even beds. Recliners are produced with a comfortable footrest, which can be extended by means of mechanical or electric drive. The backrest also reclines for a comfortable reclining position.
Design
The classic armchair is large, soft, with comfortable armrests. But besides that, there are compact armchairs suitable for the dining room. There are also rigid rocking chairs with removable cushions.
Recently, frameless furniture is gaining popularity: it resembles an ordinary one in shape, but inside, instead of a rigid frame, there is an elastic soft filler. The absence of hard wood parts and sharp corners makes it an ideal choice for a child's room.
Unusual shapes include bean bags, pendant modelsspinning and on casters.
Purpose
The models for the living room and the kitchen will differ: they put something large and cozy in the hall, small and tall in the kitchen. There are also chairs for work - simple or ergonomic, playful, for children. Special attention should be paid to outdoor furniture, which is used in summer cottages and plots.
Selection recommendations
When choosing a chair for the interior of your apartment or house, pay attention to 3 important parameters.
Upholstery
The material of the outer cover is selected from the list of upholstery fabrics:
- Mat... Textured, mostly neutral or pastel shades.
- Velours... Nice to the touch, fleecy, large selection of colors.
- Flock... Tactile, unlike velor, the pile is not part of the weaving, but simply glued to the base.
- Chenille... Lightweight, lightweight fabric.
- Jacquard... Something like a tapestry: textured and durable.
- Leather... Long lasting, can be uncomfortable to sit in the summer heat.
- Suede leather... A practical and more pleasant skin replacement.
The choice of fabric is also influenced by the place where the furniture will stand. Leather, for example, are more appropriate in offices and austere living rooms. Children like velor very much. The mat is versatile and fits both the living room and the kitchen.
For kitchens and nurseries, choose Easy Clean upholstery. These are fabrics impregnated with a special dirt-repellent composition, thanks to which dirt from furniture is washed off with clean water.
The size
Volumetric ones are used for a comfortable stay in the living room, but they are not suitable for every style. For example, a puffy leather recliner would be out of place in minimalistic modern interior... Consider simple, low-backed living room chairs as a replacement. For the kitchen, it is better to choose a high back, the presence of legs is mandatory - this makes the furniture seem more compact.
Do not forget about the proportionality with the room: the smaller it is, the more simple and compact the model should be.
Combination
Chairs in interiors should first of all suit the environment. First option - choose a design that repeats sofa fully or partially. For example, chester to the chester. Or velor upholstery to velor.
Second option more challenging is to use the chair as an accent. For these purposes, choose bright armchairs that will stand out in the interior. For example, yellow furniture in a light room.
Color solution
Once we touched on the topic of color, let's talk about it separately. The stores sell models of different shades: from neutral to colored - pastel, deep and even acidic.
The choice should primarily be based on the interior of the room. If you want to focus on decor, not furniture, choose basic shades: gray, beige, white, black. To put emphasis on the chair, choose contrasting colors: they can be either color or monochrome, the main thing is to be different from the surrounding details.
The second aspect influencing the choice of color - the functional purpose of the space. For children, in most cases, they choose a bright palette - and the upholstery is not necessarily monochromatic, options with prints are acceptable.
If you are organizing a seating area with an armchair in the bedroom, choose a calm palette that promotes relaxation: gray, beige, pastel green or blue. In the office, discreet dark tones are preferred - brown, graphite, indigo, cherry, malachite. Living room furniture can be neutral and vibrant.
How does it look in different styles?
Whatever direction you choose for your home, you will definitely find an armchair for it!
- Minimalism... Simple shapes, clear lines, minimal decor, neutral upholstery.
- High tech... The design often contains a chrome-plated metal frame, the upholstery is often leather.
- English... 2 options: austere chester or a more decorative model with carved wooden armrests and patterns on the back.
- Provence... The main differences are graceful legs, a carriage tie, pastel plain fabrics or a floral pattern.
- Modern... Smooth lines, slightly futuristic design: the back often resembles a cocoon or an egg.
- Classic... Always dearly decorated: capitonné on the back, wooden patterns, low beautiful legs. For upholstery, jacquard with ornaments is usually used.
- Scandinavian... Adherents of the style often use original models with high hugging backs.
Photos in the interior
No matter what room you enter, there is a place for a cozy seat everywhere! The armchair in the living room interior is a classic. One bright in addition to the sofa, or two identical ones - depends on the size of the room and your personal preferences.
Advice! If friends often stay overnight, choose models with a berth.
In the hallway, the model should be compact - there is no need for special convenience here, because the furniture will be used for a short time: in order to take off or put on shoes.
In the nursery, this piece of furniture is necessary from birth to adulthood: first, the mother will lull the baby on it (a rocking chair is suitable for this), then read fairy tales to him, and then the child himself will sit while reading or watching cartoons.
When organizing a relaxation area in the bedroom, add a comfortable ottoman-bench and a coffee table to a small armchair, on which you can put a book or put a cup of tea.
The options for the kitchen are narrow and tall: often the design does not provide for armrests, so it looks more like a chair.
