Make a rearrangement
If the landlords don't mind the change, you're in luck. Feel free to create, experiment and change the look of rooms. It won't take a lot of effort: it is enough to rearrange the furniture in places, making the space more comfortable due to zoning, or vice versa - open. Move bulky cabinets away from the window to make the room appear brighter.
Buy your furniture, if it is in short supply in your rental housing - choose what you can take with you when you move.
Refresh walls
This is not a full-fledged renovation, but a can of snow-white paint can work wonders. You can even paint paper canvases - the main thing is that they adhere well to the walls.
Against a plain background, old brown furniture (if any) looks much nicer, and the room seems more spacious.
Select one wall by painting it in a contrasting color. Another option is accent wallcreated with bright or unusual wallpapers. You won't need a lot of money, and the furnishings will become more stylish.
Transform windows
Try to tidy up the window openings: first, wash the glass, frames and slopes. Perhaps unclean or smokers lived before you, and simple soapy water and a sponge will brighten the windows by several tones.
The restoration of wooden frames is expensive, but you can improve their condition with your own hands:
- seal the chips with wood putty;
- sand the surface;
- After gluing the glass at the joints with masking tape, go over the frames with odorless acrylic or water-dispersion paint.
A better result can be achieved with a construction hair dryer, which makes it easier to remove old paint.
Place on the windowsill a couple of plants or hang curly plants on the cornice - they will liven up the room and distract attention from the old frames.
Replace curtains
Do you have nondescript curtains made of cheap fabric in your room? Pick up others, with a suitable for the master cornice fastening... New "clothes" for window openings will easily transform the interior, moreover, it is not difficult to transport it to a new place of residence.
If the wallpaper has ornaments, choose plain curtains. Avoid lambrequins and tulle with patterns - laconic products will cost less, besides, they will make the interior more modern. Look for options at online flea markets or fabric stores: sometimes it's cheaper to sew curtains yourself.
Refresh the bathroom
One of the most effective ways to ennoble walls in the bathroom - wash the tiles, clean the seams and try to renew the grout. Dark joints give the bathroom a messy look. If you are ready to spend about 2,500 rubles, you can completely change the appearance of the room, painting the tile.
Do not forget about a new shower curtain and a rug - it's both beautiful and hygienic.
Refresh lighting
We do not call for changing lamps in a rented apartment (although some inexpensive models often look much better than "rare" tasteless chandeliers).
It is enough to replace the lamps in accordance with your needs: add brightness in the kitchen, make the light in the bedroom more subdued, and in the work area - colder and invigorating. Hang solid colored garlands wherever you want to add magic to the room.
Avoid overhead lights in the evenings - they highlight the flaws in the finish. Use table lamps and floor lamps.
Decorate the sofa
This piece of furniture takes up a lot of space, so it immediately attracts attention. If the sofa is old and cannot be replaced, remove the pillows and knock them outside. If possible, leave them in the sun, placing them on the balcony: this procedure kills dust mites. The same should be done with the mattress.
If the sofa cannot be disassembled, vacuum it thoroughly. For wet cleaning, use a steam generator or soapy water. After that, the sofa can be decorated: cover with a suitable size monochromatic blanket and decorate decorative pillows.
Arrange the table and chairs
The kitchen will be brighter and more attractive when you cover the countertop beautiful tablecloth... But do not buy oilcloth - the interior will not benefit from this. Prefer washable tablecloths made of synthetic fabric, which will be enough to wipe with a rag in case of contamination.
Sew or buy soft pillows on chairs and stools - the thicker they are, the better they look. If the chairs are soft, but do not fit into the environment, pull special covers over them.
Decorate the walls
An empty wall can be decorate with frames with photos, drawings or posters... Choose lightweight products with thin plexiglass if you do not want to drill into walls: they can be fixed on self-adhesive strips that will not leave marks after removal. Another option is a thin wall shelf, on which a composition of frames with a mat looks great.
Also, paper garlands are suitable for decorating a room - they can be easily attached to the wallpaper with pins.
Paint the doors
If the state interroom or front door leaves much to be desired, paint will come to the rescue again. You can also use remnants of vinyl or non-woven wallpaper... The front door can be painted with slate paint by making it with your own hands: it fits easily and economically, hiding all the flaws.
Recipe: Mix black acrylic enamel with tile grout or dry putty - one teaspoon of powder per 100 g of paint is enough. Paint in two layers. This composition will allow you to draw with chalk on the door.
Do not be afraid to transform a rented apartment - any available means will do, and the acquired skills will come in handy in a new, possibly your own home. Cozy environment will delight you every day, helping to cope with daily worries.
