Disregarding the proportions
When choosing a TV, start with the size of the room. If the room is spacious, a small screen will look out of place and will hardly please with a beautiful "picture". If the living room is cramped, the huge TV will be too close to the viewers.
It is considered safe for the eyes to watch TV at a distance equal to the sum of 3-4 screen diagonals.
In the center of the living room
The times when the TV was considered the main decoration of the room are gone: modern interior designers are trying to ensure that technology does not attract much attention.
If you want to harmoniously fit the device into the environment, arrange the furniture so that it is comfortable to communicate and relax. After that, you can select a place where it will be convenient to watch the screen from any point. The best helper in this is the swing arm.
Modern expensive models look like works of art, and in these cases, the design is built around them.
Too high or too low
One of the most common mistakes that cause great discomfort is mounting the TV at the wrong height. Place the device at eye level.
To choose the optimal distance from the floor, we recommend sitting down on the sofa and looking straight ahead: the screen should be located opposite so that you do not have to raise or lower your head when viewing.
On thin walls
If the partition is made of plasterboard or any other fragile material, it is not recommended to place the TV on it. Drywall can withstand a weight of up to 25-30 kg, so you cannot hang a heavy device on it without additional reinforcement. Even if the thin model is lightweight, experts recommend using metal corners as a frame and butterfly dowels.
If you are not sure about the reliability of the structure, place the TV floor stand.
Across from the window
If you position the screen perpendicular to the window, light from the street will be reflected in it and interfere with viewing, and the sun's rays will create glare. This is especially true for apartments with "southern" rooms, in which the sun stays throughout the day.
If there is nowhere else to place the device, additional roller blinds, not transmitting light, or curtains made of blackout fabric.
On a wall with no outlets
When making repairs, it is important to design appropriate leads for the TV. Experts advise installing sockets behind the monitor to easily hide cables and wires. Their number depends on the amount of equipment used.
If the sockets are far away, you will have to use an extension cord, but it will be ugly to pass through the room, spoiling the appearance of the room. When passing the cable along the wall from the outside, cover it with decorative cable ducts.
On an empty wall
A lonely black screen in the middle of free space looks strange and out of place. To keep the TV from feeling superfluous, you should surround it with cute neighbors. Framed posters or book shelves are fine.
The wall behind the appliance can be accentuated by decorating it with wallpaper, panels, brick tiles that differ from the rest of the finish, or create an artificial niche from cabinets. It is desirable that the background be dark - this will improve visibility.
If you fit the TV into minimalistic interior, the device can do without companions.
Watching TV should be safe and comfortable. Using our recommendations, you can easily find a suitable place for an electrical appliance in your living room.
