Modular furniture
Before disassembling a rare structure, you should sort all the items stored inside. Most likely, some of them will turn out to be unnecessary, so things that have outlived their time should be thrown away, and for others, find new owners. All that remains is to transfer everything you need to a new modern storage system, which will give a feeling of spaciousness, lightness and revitalize the atmosphere.
Usually it consists of several sections that can be moved and connected at your discretion: TV stands, a small cabinet and shelves. To make furniture look lighter, choose light colors, hanging bedside tables or glossy fronts.
Open shelving
Such designs are appropriate in modern styles - contemporary, loft, scandi... Thin frames make the living room more spacious, as if filled with air.
But so that the interior does not look overloaded, it is important to leave it on open shelves empty space, alternating books, souvenirs and home flowers, and put papers and other little things in beautiful boxes. Part of the structure can be a curbstone with closed facades.
Built in furniture
This approach is optimal if there are a lot of things, and the room does not differ in size. Furniture, created specifically for the size of the living room, looks expensive and laconic, making up a single whole with the surrounding environment and saving space as much as possible.
Built-in can be not only wardrobes, but also shelving, complemented by a TV and curtain rods. This idea, realized in the second photo, added coziness and functionality to the atmosphere.
Cabinet with additions
Lovers minimalism will appreciate the laconic solution in the form TV stands instead of a wall. It can be suspended, on legs or on a stable base. Open walls decorated with decor will make the living room brighter and more spacious, but you will need a couple more spacious structures to store things:
- additional modules by the window, as in the first photo;
- sideboard or display cabinet;
- shelves and a fold-out sofa with a storage compartment, as in the third picture.
Closed wardrobes
If, when replacing the wall, the main goal is to preserve the clothes and textiles stored inside, choose freestanding wardrobe in combination with a chest of drawers or a curbstone for small items. Place it closer to the entrance so that when you open the door, the attention is drawn to the living room space, and not to a large-sized structure.
An even better option - built-in wardrobe, which, being in niche, takes up the maximum usable space. Everything that previously fit in the wall can be stored inside.
To brighten the room, place a wardrobe with mirrored fronts opposite the window.
Display cabinets
If the wall is used to showcase a home library or a valuable collection, give preference to light cabinets with transparent doors. Glass not only protects objects from dust, but also gives the interior airiness, reflecting the light falling on them.
Twin showcases can be placed in the TV area or on the sides of the sofa, creating a cozy niche.
Renovation
If the wall is in excellent condition and there is not enough money for new furniture, try remodeling it. The quality of modern paints allows you to update furniture at home - odorless and time-consuming removal of the old coating.
The photo below shows examples transformations of outdated walls: the owners took them apart and turned them into stylish furnishings.
If you are tired of a wall that occupies a significant part of the hall, you always have a choice of what to replace it with.
