Luxurious dark blue chest of drawers
The hostess bought this 70s chest of drawers from natural wood from her hands, paying only 300 rubles. Initially, it had many cracks, and the veneer had defects. The boxes had extra holes that needed to be masked. The craftswoman wanted to get a chest of drawers in a deep color with the preservation of the wood pattern and wear.
The old varnish was removed with a grinder: thorough preparation of the source code is the key to a high-quality result... The defects were putty and sanded, then covered with tinted glaze: it took 4 layers.
Legs and frames from a craft store were treated with walnut stain. The total cost is 1600 rubles.
Black drawer unit with engraving
The history of the alteration of this bedside table is not easy: the owner found it in a landfill and several times wanted to take it back for "disobedience". It took 10 coats of remover to remove all the varnish from the veneer! It took several days.
After applying the protective oil, flaws were revealed, and the craftswoman partially painted them over. The hostess was not satisfied with the result, so the curbstone was completely painted black. Only the legs remained intact.
Using a pencil, a drawing was drawn on the door and drilled out with a small drill with an engraver attachment. The result exceeded all expectations!
In order not to waste time on removing the varnish, sand the surface to a rough state, apply an acrylic primer and paint with moisture-resistant paint in 2 layers. In this example "Tikkurila Euro Power 7" was used. The top of the bedside table is covered with acrylic varnish.
From the wall into a stylish set
The owners of this brown "wall" took it to their dacha, and then decided to try their hand at transforming it into modern furniture.
The chipboard coating cracked in places and came off, so it was completely removed. The cabinet frames were disassembled and re-fastened with Euro screws. The details were sanded, putty and painted. The tabletops and legs were made from old boards, and the layout on the doors was nailed again.
Moldings were added to the front of the cabinet, which made it unrecognizable. The result was three sets for different rooms: two bedside tables in the living room, a wardrobe for the bedroom and another set of three cupboards.
And here you can watch a detailed video about remodeling a bookshelf from an old wall. The owners turned it into a TV stand.
Armchair
The famous armchair, which was found in most Soviet apartments, is again at the peak of popularity today. The owners are captivated by its convenience, simple design and quality of the frame.
The owner of this piece used foam rubber 8 cm thick for the back and 10 cm for the seat, also adding two layers of padding polyester. The lemon-colored upholstery fabric was purchased from a store. The rounded shapes were created by overlapping the foam rubber over the edge of the back and seat, as well as tight stretching.
For painting the frame, an inexpensive matte white enamel "PF-115", tinted with black color, was used. Painting was carried out with a velor roller in three thin layers.
After drying, it is recommended not to touch the chair for about two weeks - so the composition will polymerize completely and will be stable in operation.
Reincarnation of the Viennese chair
This old handsome man was found in a landfill. He didn't have a seat, but the frame was pretty strong. The new seat was cut from 6 mm plywood and the base was carefully sanded.
In the 1950s, such chairs appeared in many homes. They were made at the Ligna factory in Czechoslovakia, copying the design of the model No.788 Bresso, which was developed by Mikhail Tonet in 1890. Their main feature is bent parts.
The hostess covered the chair "Tikkurila Unica Akva" without applying a primer: this was a mistake, since the coating turned out to be fragile and now there are scratches on it.
The craftswoman advises using "Tikkurila Empire", the most popular and reliable coating. The upholstered seat was hand-sewn using matting fabric, spunbond and 20 mm foam. The edging is made from a braid from a bicycle cable.
Soviet curbstone with painting
Another Soviet-made bedside table in 1977, which turned from a faceless object into a beauty with its own character. The owner chose a deep dark green as the main color, with which she painted the countertop, legs and insides, and covered the facade with white. The botanical painting was done with acrylic paints. Also replaced the standard handle.
Today, vintage furniture is prized for its sleek design and legs that give it an airy feel. Due to the "raised" structures, the room appears visually larger.
New life for the sofa
You can repair not only small wooden objects, but also large items. This sofa-book from 1974 was once overtightened, but worn out again. He's broke mechanism and the bolts were bent. During the rework, the hostess of the sofa saved not only the budget, but also the area: such a model is very compact and takes up little space.
There is no foam rubber inside - only springs and a harsh cloth on a cotton pad, so the structure is odorless. The frame is in a satisfactory condition. The owner bought new hinges, a piece of furniture fabric and new bolts.
Thanks to the perseverance and patience of the craftswoman, the mechanism of the sofa was renewed, and the soft part was pulled over with new matter. All that remains is to add a couple of decorative pillows.
New table look
It took the owner 3 weeks to restore this 80s table. At the heart - veneered chipboard; only the legs are made of solid wood. The owner removed the old varnish from the surface and sanded it down.
The master left the previous paint and varnish layer only in the veins to create a natural aging effect. To visually lighten the product, I painted the sidewall white.
The construction is covered with a matt transparent varnish in several layers. The drawers are complemented by new contrasting handles.
Bright bookcase
The hostess decided not to skin this bookcase - she just primed it with "Tikkurila Otex". The wood grating and the facades are made in a carpentry workshop from 6 mm and 3 mm plywood. The lining is glued to the "Moment joiner".
The outer sides and fronts are painted black "Tikkurila for blackboards". Orange and turquoise coating - "Luxens" for walls, protected by colorless "Lliberon" wax. The back wall is covered with wallpaper. Handles - old IKEA collection.
Boho curbstone with ornament
To repaint an ordinary vintage bedside table with Avito, you needed:
- White paint "Tikkurila Empire".
- Spray paint color "rose gold".
- Masking tape.
- Small foam roller (4 cm).
The author marked the drawing with masking tape and glued it tightly to the doors. Painted in white with a roller in three layers. Withstood 3 hours between each layer. After the third layer, I waited 3 hours and carefully peeled off the masking tape. She unscrewed the legs, protected with tape, leaving the tips, painted with a spray can. Collected after complete drying.
Renovation of furniture is always an interesting and creative process. Do-it-yourself items acquire their own history and add soulfulness to the interior.
