Partition
The designation of functional parts should not violate the integrity of the interior, and a lightweight partition successfully copes with this task. The design serves for decorative zoning of the room, unobtrusively dividing the room without erecting blank walls.
The material used to create the partition is wooden slats, drywall, panels or brick.
The most expensive and relevant material for dividing the living room today is glass. Transparent partitions gently demarcate the space, reflecting light and visually enlarging the room.
You can hang a TV on the main partitions or build an electric fireplace in them.
Sliding doors
This design should be considered before starting the repair. When opened, the doors create the illusion of spaciousness, allow you to get maximum light and make the interior more functional.
They do not take up much space, they can be made of wood, plastic, metal and glass, but they are most appropriate in spacious rooms.
The doors can fold like an accordion or slide to the sides along the guides. There are doors that are excellent at isolating sound, but they are much more expensive than conventional doors. A winning option is wooden canvases with mirror or glass inserts, which add airiness to the atmosphere.
It is recommended to supplement transparent doors with curtains in order to level out the light passing through them.
Podium
This design will help out if there is no room in the apartment for the construction of unnecessary partitions. Amazing property podium - its ability to zone the living room without losing useful space: inside it you can store things or even hide a bed. At the same time, the space will not look overloaded.
The sleeping place can be located both on the podium and inside it: in the second case, they have sofa... Often, an office is equipped on a dais, the zoning of which is complemented by curtains.

Ceiling structures
The opposite option to the podium is to delimit the room with the help of a ceiling. This solution allows you to visually divide the living room and lay additional communications inside. You can use both tension canvases and hinged structures made of plasterboard.
If you equip multi-level ceilings with thoughtful lighting and a finish that differs from the main background, zoning will be implemented as functionally as possible. You can also divide the living room with beams, which will divide the space into several sections.
Shelving or wardrobe
Delineate the room with a lung shelving - a typical way in domestic interiors. Products from metal, wood, laminated chipboard and MDF are used. The rack not only zoning the living room, but also acts as a place to store books, photographs, flower vases and decor. Popular option - shelves decorated with home plants in pots.
Via cabinets and shelving, you can create niches, highlight the necessary areas - work, nursery, reading or sleeping. This is the easiest and most inexpensive way to transform the interior and make it more comfortable.
For zoning small rooms, a pass-through rack is more suitable, and for spacious ones - with a blank back wall.
Curtains
In order not to overload the room with furniture, use a cloth. Curtains - a budget and practical option: they are mounted by installing cornices, they are easy to change and easy to care for. Curtains are able to separate the sleeping area, creating an atmosphere of privacy with one movement of the hand.
An easier way to make an impromptu bedroom more secluded is to hang a canopy of thick fabric over the bed.
Curtains are a convenient solution for those who work at home in the evenings. Cabinet can be arranged in the living room by creating a border between the sofa and the desk. This is a great idea for zoning a living room for those who seek privacy, but are indifferent to extraneous noise.
Sofa and other furniture
Living room zoning can be carried out using an ordinary sofa: this is especially true for small rooms where there is no way to build a partition. A sofa, placed with its back to another functional area, copes with both the division of space and its main task.
If you want to demarcate the kitchen and the place to stay, the sofa is often complemented by a dining table or bar counter. In the lower photo, the hall is divided into two zones by furniture - sofas, a console and a wardrobe, as well as multilevel ceilings and different finishes on the floor.
Screen
An unconventional way to retire - use a mobile partition.
The advantages of the screen are in its decorativeness: it transforms the interior, can be made of a variety of materials, and can also make the atmosphere more romantic and original.
Well suited for one-room apartments, but, unfortunately, does not have sound insulation properties and only slightly dims the light. The screen can be moved to any place, creating various scenarios of use. Folded requires storage space.
Visual zoning with color
Another way not to overload the living room is to carry out zoning with decoration. To differentiate, use a contrasting paint or wallpaper, creating a noticeable accent. You can also use different textures on the walls - decorative brick, wood, laminate.
In the photo below, the bedroom and living room are divided using dark blue wallpaper and a low shelf:
If the zones are made in different shades, then it is necessary to include accessories of the same tone that support the color gamut.
In this example the bed is in a small nichehighlighted by dark trim and lowered ceiling:
If the kitchen and living room are located in the same room, you can draw the border between the areas using different flooring: it is more appropriate to lay in the cooking area ceramic tiles, and in the residential part - parquet, laminate or linoleum.
Lighting
Due to the variety of lamps, as well as the ability to place them at different levels of the room, the living room can be zoned with light. It is recommended to place a floor lamp next to a sofa or reading chair. In the "bedroom" wall sconces or lamps with dim light are appropriate, in the kitchen - illumination of the table top and dining group.
To achieve the best result, it is worth adding a carpet to one of the areas. In combination with light, it will allow you to divide the room at a very low cost.
Effective reception is the illumination of the multi-level ceiling, as well as the floor: the LED strip easily emphasizes the border of the two zones and looks modern.
Don't stop at just one way zoning when arranging a living room: many techniques are successfully combined with each other.
