Choose a straight layout
IN small kitchen or medium-sized, you want to feel as comfortable as possible, but if the main part of the room is occupied by a headset and a bulky refrigerator, there is no room for maneuvers and organizing a comfortable dining area.
When direct layout easier to move around and approach the sink or refrigerator, if there are more than two people cooking... If the direct layout does not suit you, use windowsillby making it an additional worktop. This version of the L-shaped kitchen is the most optimal - it does not hide the space, unlike corner headsetlocated near the front door.
To solve the problem storage locations, equip one more row hanging cabinets under the ceiling... Upstairs you can keep dishes for guests, rarely used equipment, and stocks of cereals. Another option is to purchase a bench with a lid and store your kitchen utensils inside.
Think about the lighting
Incorrectly positioned light sources not only cause discomfort, but also reduce the desire to spend time at the stove and sink. The only one chandelier in the center of the room is left behind the person preparing food, which is why countertop a shadow appears.
For cooking and washing dishes, it is necessary to provide illumination of the working area, and hang a separate lamp above the table: it will come in handy for family gatherings and for children who like to learn their homework in the kitchen.
Don't forget about correct arrangement of outlets for electrical appliances!
Use non-staining materials
When you have to cook a lot, you don't have much time for daily cleaning. Why exhaust yourself by rubbing fingerprints from dark glossy facades or a drop of fat from small mosaics on the apron?
It is better to spend your free time on vacation or your favorite hobby, but for this it is worth choosing in advance materials that are easy to care for: matte finish on the headset (plastic or melamine), large tile on the apron, moisture resistant tabletop.
It is recommended to cover the walls with high-quality paint or washable wallpaper, and lay out the floor with porcelain stoneware, moisture-resistant laminate or wear-resistant linoleum.
Get compact appliances
Do not give up household helpers that save time and energy - multicooker, microwave oven, food processor. Also, a large family will benefit from a dishwasher - during its operation, less water is consumed than when washing by hand.
But so that all large electrical appliances fit, choose compact, built-in models... It is also worth considering buying a two-burner stove: perhaps this solution will free up much-needed space on the countertop.
Improve your storage system
The first rule when setting up a kitchen is not to skimp on convenience! Think over filling kitchen cabinets so that everything is at hand: place seasonings in one drawer, bulk products in another compartment, pots in the third.
Please note before repair to things that have always been annoying during cooking, for example, the lack of a comfortable corner for storage lids or cutting boards - and fix it. Sometimes it's worth adding a couple of open shelves to make it easier to access what you need.
Kitchen utensils, which are often required by all family members, are best placed in a public place so that everyone, regardless of height, can reach them.
Set up a separate dining room
In a small-sized kitchen, it is difficult to turn around even for its two inhabitants, let alone a few household members. Often the costs and hassle of combining the kitchen with the living room fully justify themselves - the dining area is taken out into the living room and the family will forever forget about the feeling of being cramped during dinners. A large table and a joint meal unites, moreover, space is freed up in the kitchen for helpers.
If there is a baby in the family, it becomes easier for parents to keep an eye on him without stopping from cooking.
Use transformable furniture
When several people gather at the table at the same time, the question of seating is acute. If the kitchen is small, it is not worth purchasing sofa or luxurious half-chairs - the former will "eat" too much valuable space, and the latter will have to be taken to the room after each meal, otherwise it will be difficult to move around in the kitchen.
The best option is considered stools that can be removed under the table or stacked compactly. Folding chairs are also appropriate: if desired, they can even be hung on the wall.
Take a closer look at folding or folding tables that can increase their usable area when needed. If you want a round table, keep in mind that a maximum of 4 people can sit behind it: to seat more people, opt for the oval model.
Setting up a kitchen is not an easy task, and it becomes more difficult when a family consists of 4 or more people. Try to think over every little thing and do not skimp on your convenience, because both cooking and eating play an important role in our life.
