Which way should the doors open?

From the point of view of feng shui

Those who build their interior based on ancient oriental teachings should know about doorways the most important thing: they should not impede positive energy flows.

According to Feng Shui, doors are the most important part of the house. Therefore, for better energy circulation, they must open exclusively inward and to the left of the entering person... It is impossible for the canvases to rest against furniture or obscure the view of the room, which is quite reasonable from the point of view of convenience.

It is undesirable for the doors to open or close spontaneously: to prevent this, equip them with stoppers.

According to fire safety

Construction norms and requirements of the Ministry of Emergency Situations do not dictate strict rules for the installation of interior doors. The exceptions are situations when more than 15 people are in the room at a time. In this case, SNiP 21-01-97 "Fire safety of buildings and structures" regulates the opening of doors to the outside.

If we talk about safety in everyday life, then there are two main rules for opening doors:

• In the nursery, if the child is small, it is better that the door opens inward. This will allow you to open the room if the baby accidentally locks up in it.
• Door leaves leading to cramped toilet or bathroomshould open outward. If a person is unconscious, the entrance will not be blocked, which means it will be easier to get into the bathroom to provide assistance.

From the standpoint of convenience

Install interior doors it is worth so that their use does not cause discomfort:

• If the doorway isin the center of the wall, the flap must not interfere with the use of the switch.
• If at the same time opening the canvas hurt each other, you should put them so that one opens inward, and the other - outward.
• If the entrance isin the corner, it is more convenient to put the canvas with swinging open to the nearest wall.
• Doors from small rooms (bathroom, small kitchen, restroom and dressing room) must open outward, otherwise the canvas will occupy the main part of an already cramped space.
• It is recommended to install doors with side opening spacious room.

If each door structure in a multi-room apartment is placed with swinging outward, then the corridor will be difficult to furnish with furniture, and in the case of simultaneous opening of the doors, the movement of people will become difficult.

What about the front door?

In accordance with building codes, in residential buildings, the front door is an evacuation door, which means must swing open strictly in the direction of travel, that is, on the street... In the event of a fire, this will speed up the exit of the occupants, as well as facilitate the removal of the person on a stretcher. At the same time, the open sash should not impede the free exit of neighbors! When installing door structures, special attention is paid to this issue, because if improperly installed, people can suffer.

There are no such restrictions for owners of private houses: all canvases can be installed without approval and in any direction.

In order for the door to create additional convenience for everyone around it, it is important to comply with all fire-prevention and architectural rules.
