What is macrame?
The very concept of macrame comes from the Arabic word macramé, meaning fringe or lace. The meaning of technology macrame consists of knotted weaving of various threads. Cotton or woolen cords are usually used as a base, but any strong, thick thread can be used.
Important! Macrame is called not only a method, but also products made from threads by tying knots.
How can you use it in design?
Macrame in the interior can be used and looked in different ways. Let's consider the main applications.
Panel
Most common variant - a panel from macrame. There are different shapes and sizes, the choice of an item depends on the style of the interior, free space, and the functionality of the room.
For example, small light-colored wall panels on sticks, tapering towards the bottom, have always been used in boho style... Modern interiors gravitate towards gray, black products of regular geometric shapes. There are also whole tapestries made using the macrame technique: they will fit in boho, scandi, loft.
To make wall macramés look appropriate in the interior of houses, pay attention to the size:
- large macrame decor is used in spacious rooms;
- in small rooms, instead of one large part, it is better to take 2-4 small ones.
Concerning placement above the sofa or bed - the decoration should occupy at least 50% of the back width, otherwise it will look scanty.
Curtains
Experienced craftsmen in macrame technique even weave curtains! Curtains hardly save from the sun, but create coziness and fine zone space... Blinds are used to decorate windows in the kitchen, in the living room, or interior doorways.

- can be moved apart, gathering in "bundles" on the sides of the window or passage;
- suitable for non-standard windows, because can be of any width, length;

But to decorate the center with a path dining table - another thing! It does not take up much space, while creating a cozy atmosphere.
