Thoughtful headset
Before renovating, decide on the number of kitchen cabinets - perhaps you are ready to discard some of the kitchen utensils and small household appliances in favor open shelves? In the absence of bulky wall cabinets, space is freed up and the kitchen becomes larger.
If this option is not for you, give preference to the most spacious cabinets up to the ceiling: They will blend in with their surroundings, creating a seamless composition.
Light walls and floor
This favorite design technique for expansion of any premises works flawlessly. White, cream and light blue tones in wall decoration and the ceiling reflect light, thereby making the kitchen more spacious. Don't be afraid to use light colored furniture. - it gets dirty no more than dark, and modern materials do not cause difficulties when cleaning surfaces.
When floor cladding it is tempting to choose non-marking ceramic tiles in a stone or patchwork style. Contrasting flooring can distract attention from compact size kitchen, but this effect will only work in conjunction with other techniques for increasing the space. In order not to miscalculate, purchase light-colored tiles or laminate.
Minimum elements
You will breathe more freely if rid the countertop, shelves and surfaces from the heap of various objects. Hang your favorite magnets on a special board in your room or hallway, not on refrigerator door: this way you protect the appliance from scratches and neutralize visual noise.
Try not to keep dishes, small appliances and other utensils in sight. Use wall rails dosed, do not overload the working area.
Set concise tempered glass apron or decorate the wall with ceramic tiles without a pattern. Choose paint, decorative plaster or wallpaper without sharp contrasting transitions, otherwise the room will seem cramped.
Built-in appliances
When ordering a kitchen, choose a built-in hob, oven and refrigerator. They are smaller in size, but fit perfectly into the headset without violating its external integrity.
The technique, which is hidden behind the facades and is located under a single tabletop, does not interfere with the design. A gas stove, as a rule, hides space, so when replacing it, think about a two-burner panel: if you cook a little, the technique will allow you to expand the kitchen not only visually, but also functionally.
Pay attention to how many products you store: perhaps instead of a full-size refrigerator, a compact model will suit you, which will free up a lot of usable space.
Laconic window decoration
Removing the curtains, we notice that the room appears brighter and more spacious. Make this technique work for you: remove the tulle that covers the depth of window sills and slopes, replace heavy curtains and multi-layered draperies with laconic roller blinds or roman blinds.
Not enough comfort or is there a need to hide from prying eyes from the street? Hang light monochromatic curtains up to the podokonik, letting in sunlight, or install pleated blinds on the frames.
If you are the owner of a pleasant view from the window, do not close it: your gaze will slide onto the street, blurring the boundaries between landscapes and the kitchen.
Abundance of light
Lighting greatly affects the perception of space: with the right the location of the luminaires the room will appear larger. Illumination of the working area, dining table, and ceiling chandelier or spots will give the kitchen a modern and trendy look.
Don't forget about the most remote corners, openings and niches.
Folding or narrow table
If you put a massive dining table in a small kitchen, the kitchen will become cramped and uncomfortable. The situation can be corrected with a standard model, but even this is sometimes not an option: the structure can block the passage and interfere with movement.
Consider buying transforming table: they are sliding, folding, reclining. For a small family, a narrow console table, like a bar counter, fixed to the wall, as well as an extended window sill, are suitable.
Compact furniture
Thinking over the filling of the dining group, stop at stools that can simply be pushed under the table, and, if necessary, stacked - the products make the room visually more spacious, since they do not have backs. If you like chairs, give preference to the most laconic models with thin legs.
The kitchen will look more original and more airy, if instead of ordinary chairs you buy transparent plastic ones: they will dissolve in space.
Reflective surfaces
Do not neglect glass inserts on front doors and mirrors - they reflect not only light, but also the room, optically increasing it. Even glass decor can play a role - vases or jugs, which will make the space more airy.
A mirror over a dining table may seem like an unexpected solution, but this option is often found in modern design projects. Particularly courageous and neat owners of small kitchens can install a mirrored apron: paper towels will help in caring for it.
Perspective images
Do not leave the wall above the dining table without decor, otherwise the gaze will rest on emptiness. Choose the first option between one large painting and several small ones. It is advisable to hang a landscape with a perspective receding into the distance - such a trick will help deceive your eyes, visually expanding the kitchen.
Instead of one painting, you can stick a mural or wallpaper with a suitable pattern.
All methods of visually enlarging the kitchen require thoughtfulness, and only a few of them require a serious investment of money. Everyone can make the room more spacious, even if no renovation is planned.
