If several tiles have peeled off at once, there are:
- manufacturing defects of the glue,
- emptiness when applying it,
- insufficiently static foundation
- or poor preparation of the base.
If the problem is in one cracked tile, it is most likely a point of mechanical damage.
You can glue the old tile a second time after it has been thoroughly prepared and only if it has not broken.
If it is not possible to find ceramics from the same series, it is better to glue 1-2 contrasting tiles on the wall, matching in color with any detail of the bathroom interior, than to collect the “same” element from the fragments.
Step-by-step instructions for installing tiles in place
- Use a chisel, hammer and trowel to remove any remaining old mortar from the wall.
- Slightly moisten the cleaned surface with water and treat with a construction float.
- Walk with primer and antiseptic (to prevent the appearance of fungus) over the prepared section of the wall.
- Apply the adhesive evenly to the joining of the tiles using a notched trowel.
- Press the tile firmly against the wall and hold it for a while.
- Carefully remove any remaining glue on the surface and insert construction crosses into the joints.
- After a day, process the seams grout suitable color.
How to glue loose ceramics?
- cement mix - ideal for brick and concrete walls. Before applying it, the tile must be slightly moistened with water;
- dispersion mixture - universal adhesive base, suitable for any type of ceramics;
- epoxy mix - for walls made of metal or wood, it adheres well ceramics to ceramics and has high water resistance;
- polyurethane mixture - very flexible, versatile in use;
- liquid Nails - glued quickly, but not for long;
- mastic - it is convenient because it is sold ready-made; before starting the gluing process, it only needs to be thoroughly mixed;
- a mixture of sand, cement and PVA glue - is considered one of the best adhesives. The only drawback is the need to carefully observe the proportions during cooking. Usually it is 2 kg of cement + 8 kg of sand + 200 g of PVA glue + water;
- silicone sealant - suitable for spot use in small areas.
