Bathroom renovation is a laborious and dusty process, so you need to prepare for it in advance. You should cover the floor in the apartment with a film, since a lot of dirt will appear during the dismantling of the old tile. Throwing away the film is much easier than washing off construction dust and streaks from surfaces.

Electrical wiring and wall preparation

First of all, you should consider the location of outlets and switches. If the apartment has old wiring, you need to invite a specialist to replace it. If the bathroom is small, you should provide more lamps: in addition to the main lamp, you can use LEDs to illuminate the mirror. Thoughtful lighting will make the room visually spacious. You should also think about sockets: for a hair dryer and a washing machine.

For a humid environment, it is better to choose lamps and sockets with a degree of protection IP44.

Before installing the communications, it is necessary to fill the floor and level the walls with plaster according to the laser level. If the walls are crooked, use metal guides. The floor dries for about 3 days, and the drying time of the plaster is calculated according to the formula "2 mm layer = 1 day".

Communications

When installing a shower cabin, it is not necessary to focus on the location of the riser, but it is important to take into account the angle of inclination of the sewer pipe. The shower cabin is placed on a special podium made of blocks; communications are hidden behind a wall or in a box.

When buying a water heated towel rail, it is recommended to choose a product equipped with Mayevsky valves. The device must be located near the riser.

Finishes and materials

The project used wood-like porcelain stoneware as the floor covering: this is the most versatile and practical way to decorate the floor in the bathroom. Wood texture never goes out of style, and ceramics are eco-friendly, wear-resistant and not afraid of moisture. The side under the shower stall was decorated with white mosaic.

Glazed rectangular tiles, which are easy to maintain, were chosen for the wall cladding. In addition, the gloss reflects light well, visually increasing the space. The tiles were installed only in wet areas: the walls were painted on top with Dulux washable paint.

A sheet of moisture resistant plasterboard was used as a ceiling covering.

Furniture and plumbing

The small bathroom looks bigger thanks to the corner shower and lots of light. A hanging cabinet and a mirrored cabinet for storing small items also work to expand the space.

The transformation of this bathroom took about 2 weeks. High-quality preparation of the walls, a competent approach to electrics and the transfer of communications, as well as the choice of universal finishes, provided the bathroom not only with an attractive appearance, but also with a long service life.
