Design Tips
The design of a loft-style toilet depends on the size of the room, the expected functionality and the financial costs involved.
- Rough textures. Loft-style bathroom decoration involves the use of brickwork, concrete, metal, and untreated wood.
- Open communications. Pipes and wires do not need to be hidden - just make them aesthetically pleasing.
- Suitable plumbing. A cheap round toilet will destroy the style of the direction. Put either an antique model or, conversely, an ultramodern one with straight shapes.
- Dark color. Loft-style toilet design shouldn't have a lot of white. The prevailing range is gloomy - gray, black, brown, red.
- Little light. Chamber lighting, dim. The toilet, separated from the bathroom, is too bright and unnecessary.
- Unique decor. Most of the accessories are made by themselves: whether it be a workbench under the sink or a toilet paper holder made of pipes.
We select a stylish finish
The main component of a loft-style toilet is finishing materials - they set the mood.
Walls. Classic finishes:
- Brickwork. Brick, preferably red and aged.
- Concrete. Leave bare slabs, make a decorative coating with microcement.
- Paint. Most often, loft-style toilets are gray, but the walls are painted in black, brown, indigo, burgundy, emerald.
- Tile. Put it in a dark solid color or choose with an imitation of concrete, brick, wood.
- Wood. Barn boards are best. In the absence of a wall, they attach the lining and paint it. Laminate is also good.
It is not necessary to use one option - for example, make a red brick on one wall as an accent, and paint the rest in plain paint.
Advice! Be sure to treat porous surfaces with an impregnation against mold and mildew.
Floor. The standard covering for an apartment or house is tiles. Follow the rule of proportion: the smaller the area of the loft-style toilet, the smaller the tile should be. Another suitable option is concrete.
Important! Please note that porcelain stoneware and concrete are cold. Therefore, before laying, install a floor heating system so that it is comfortable and safe to stand on the floor with your bare feet.
Ceiling. In a large bathroom it can be dark, in a small one it is better to be light. The same rule applies to the height of the ceiling - the lower, the lighter. Not necessarily white - give free rein to imagination, make the finish in blue, gray, beige, green.
Concerning colors, dark shades prevail, but light and bright ones are also present. Plumbing and ceiling are usually made light. Bright - accentuates. A color picture, a bright battery, a red valve - all this will create the right atmosphere.
What plumbing fixtures and furniture to choose?
The interior of a loft toilet will not do without a toilet bowl and a sink. The rest of the details are added as needed and if there is free space.
Toilet usually white, hanging, with a hidden drain system is used.Or the second option is a floor-standing one with a suspended high tank and a hanging cord. Black sanitary ware has a place to be, but keep in mind that smudges and dirt are more visible on it.
Sink fits under the toilet. To the modern - invoice. Glossy white, concrete, stone, matte, black. For the retro style, the washbasin is needed the same: it is usually curly in shape, on metal legs or hangers.
You plan to put in a loft-style toilet bidet? Also choose the right style for the rest of the items.
Advice! Buy plumbing from one manufacturer: products from the same line are precisely combined with each other.
Ditch the standard round chrome faucets in favor of flat, square, colored (white, black, bright). Copper and bronze look great, especially if it is supported in other elements: brackets, soap dish, brush.
As for furniture, in an industrial style it is preferable to use:
- high and low open shelving made of metal and wood;
- shelves made of rough boards;
- massive tables made of natural wood;
- metal consoles;
- slab and concrete countertops.
What kind of decor can I use?
If you look at the loft-style toilets in the photo, they are not particularly decorated (like bathrooms in a different style). The decor is functional things:
- Toilet paper holder. It is made from water pipes, wood, metal profiles.
- Bracket for towels. Hang fancy hooks or a black barbell.
- Radiator, heated towel rail. The easiest way is to install a brand new chrome, it will work too. But good old cast iron painted in a bright color will look more atmospheric.
- Lamps. Industrial lighting plays an important role. Edison bulbs, metal pendants and sconces, various unusual lamps will make the loft style more expressive.
Additional small accessories:
- Mirror. Usually round in an iron frame, resembling a porthole. Or hanging from a leather strap over the sink.
- Paintings. The dressing room may not seem like the most suitable space for art, but posters, with or without frames, can bring the interior to life. Choose images of nature, animals or abstraction.
- Decorations. Want to add even more coziness? Put candles in iron candlesticks, plants in aged pots, lamp clocks on the shelves.
