Features of the layout
The most problematic place in the design of a one-room apartment is that you have only one room, in which you need to fit a living room, a sleeping place for adults, a children's area, a space for work or study.
Determining factors when choosing the layout of a one-room apartment:
- Amount of children. One child needs less space than two or three.
- Children's age. Do you have babies, preschoolers or schoolchildren?
- The number of adult family members. Do the children live with their mother, with both parents, with their grandmother, grandfather?
The answers to these simple questions will allow you to determine the number of functional areas, their dimensions, furniture that is needed in each.
In spacious studios with a free layout, when the area of a one-room apartment exceeds 45 square meters, you can build a wall, give your baby a separate children's room. In this case, the bedroom of adults is combined with a living room. or also separated by a wall or partition, if free space permits.
In a standard one-room apartment, why not equip a nursery in the kitchen or on the balcony? In the first case the main difficulty in transferring communications. In a one-room apartment equipped with gas, such manipulations are strictly prohibited. In the second situation you will have to spend money on insulation of the balcony, but the result will be a cozy and bright, albeit small, place for a child with large windows.
If there are two children, then in an apartment for a family with a child you will have to go for tricks: use all the space from floor to ceiling. This will help bunk beds or berths located under the podium, hidden during the daytime. On the podium, it is possible to arrange a desk, playroom, storage area.
Zoning options
The interior of a one-room apartment for a family with a child assumes the obligatory separation of zones for parents and a child. As partitions other than fundamental walls made of bricks or drywall you can also use portable or lighter designs.
Curly plasterboard partition
Not deaf, like a wall, but with "windows" for the penetration of sunlight. They can also be used as additional shelves. Solution Benefits in ease of construction, low cost, the possibility of finishing to match the walls. There is only one drawback: when redevelopment is needed, it will not work to move the wall - you will have to demolish it.
Rack
To divide the children's area from the living room, it is enough shelving with cells. The most common option is the KALLAX model from IKEA. They come in 3 sizes, 2 are suitable for zoning: 77 * 147 cm, 147 * 147 cm for 8 and 16 cells, respectively.
Pros of using an open cabinet: transmits light, air, creates additional roomy storage, easily moves if necessary. In addition, the cost of such a design is not too high.
Curtains
Often used to close a niche, zoning curtains especially true if the parent's bedroom is located in the recess. Thus, at night, adults will be able to safely close themselves from children, being left alone, and during the day, when the curtains are open, they will remain almost invisible.
In addition to efficiency, ease of installation, curtains have another plus: they make the ceilings visually higher.
Reiki
Lightweight partitions made of slats or other materials practically replace walls, with one exception: they let in natural light. The plus is the minus: because of the gaps between the slats, it will be perfectly visible what is happening in the second part of the room, which is not always comfortable.
Installation is best done during repair - the structure is stationary, but reusable. When changing the layout of a one-room apartment, it can be dismantled, re-installed in another place.
Level
Podium - an ideal solution for a one-room apartment in the case of a family with a child. Make the part underneath as functional as possible: fit inside bed, boxes for toys or clothes. There will be a convenient playground on top, where you can work or relax.
Other ways of dividing a home for a family with a child are visualrather than physical. But they allow you to save free living space, visually do not make a one-room apartment even smaller.
- Color... A calm palette is used for the living room, and the children's area is painted in brighter shades: such a contrast perfectly divides the apartment for a family into 2 parts.
- Material... On the walls there can be both different wallpapers, as well as a duet of two finishing variations: wallpaper-laminate, paint-wallpaper, wallpaper-plaster. The floor covering can also vary, but instead of covering two different types of laminate, it is better to use a regular rug to highlight one area.
- Lighting... An interesting effect can be achieved using many different light sources: a funny chandelier over the nursery, a classic one over a coffee table, a sconce near the sofa, a table lamp by the bed. By the way, bright light plays an important role in increasing the space.
What kind of furniture and appliances should you use?
The most important requirements for furniture in a single room: multifunctionality, color. It is advisable to choose products in light colors that will not look bulky. Moreover, they must replace several other things at once: for example, sofa bed, table transformer.
The chosen interior style also influences the choice of furniture. So that the apartment does not seem cluttered, give preference to modern trends without much decor: minimalism, high tech, other variations on functional design will save a lot of space.
Let's move on to furnishing. Accommodation is required in the hall sofa or a bed for parents, a cot. It will also not do without a TV. The kitchen, even if it is small, can be used not only for cooking and eating. The dining table or bar counter replaces the writing table. At the same time, it is advisable to organize the storage of educational supplies in one of the modules here.
It is most convenient to store clothes in a large wardrobe in the hallway. For underwear, cosmetics (for example, for a teenage girl), take a separate closet in the bathroom.
Storage systems are also placed in the living room. The main options are:
- Rack... At the same time he zoning, solving the problem of organizing space.
- Cupboard. Sometimes closet located in small niches provided by the architects.
- Chest of drawers. Place it at the head or foot of your bed so it doesn't take up a lot of space.
- Shelves... Open surfaces above the worktable are a convenient solution for all ages.
- Podium. Make it a little higher - then the roomy drawers will fit toys, bedding, out-of-season clothes, and many other necessary things.
How to properly equip a children's area?
The design of a one-room apartment and a playground for a child inside it primarily depends on the age of the baby himself. For example, a separate room is not required for a baby: just put crib next to the bed or a parent's sofa, a chest of drawers with a changing table, leave some space for games when he grows up a little.
To make a preschooler comfortable in a single room, it is first of all important to equip a play corner. The task of creating a working area is not worth it, you can get by with a small table, a chair for the growth of the crumbs.
Important! A playground for a small child should be as open as possible so that parents can watch him from any part of a one-room apartment.
If a schoolboy or teenager lives in the house, follow 2 important rules: the presence of a partition (preferably deaf) plus a comfortable ergonomic workplace. At the same time, you can safely refuse from playing after 3-4 classes.
Important! The older the child, the more important it is for him to allocate personal space where he can be without adult supervision.
To save space, put a two-story structure: a bed on top, a desk below, and storage boxes.
When there are two children, you have to go for tricks. They can sleep on a bunk bed, and do their homework on the kitchen table (be sure to keep the countertop empty and clean!). Or you can arrange a table for two on the windowsill in the hall. Another option is a warm balcony, on both sides of which there will be workplaces.

The most correct interior - with a focus on the future. Please note that the 3-year-old baby will grow up very soon and will go to school. Therefore, it is better to decide where the writing desk will stand, the curbstone with notebooks is better to decide now, so that in the future you will not have problems.
